Pangasinan to put up Human Rights Action Center
LINGAYEN— The provincial government will soon establish its Human Rights Action Center to promote higher awareness on human rights, the rule of law, and access to justice of its constituency.
The provincial board ratified Resolution No. 1596-2015 authorizing Governor Amado Espino Jr. to enter into and sign a memorandum of agreement with the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), through its chairperson, Jose Luis Martin Gascon, for the establishment and operation of the Pangasinan Human Rights Action Center (PHRAC).
The resolution noted that earlier, the CHR has designed the establishment of an HRAC “tasked to empower ordinary citizens to take the lead in promoting and protecting human rights at the grassroots level.”
“The establishment of the Pangasinan Human Rights Action Center will be a collaborative vehicle between the provincial government of Pangasinan and the Commission on Human Rights to ensure the development and implementation of human rights programs and projects in the province,” he added.
