Pangasinan pols form 2nd local party

PARTIDO NG PANGASINAN

LINGAYEN— In addition to Biskeg na Pangasinan, local political leaders led by former members of the Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC) have organized the Partido ng Pangasinan to contest posts in the province’s 43 towns and 3 cities.   

Board Member Alfonso Bince Jr. on Wednesday (October 7), said “Partido na Pangasinan” was formed “to show that Pangasinan is organized by itself.”

“All those running with Pogi (Board Member Amado Espino III) will be under the banner of Partido,” Mr. Bince added. Espino III is expected to file his certificate of candidacy for governorship on Monday.

Biskeg na Pangasinan is headed by former 5th District Rep. Mark Cojuangco, the presumptive NPC official candidate for the gubernatorial post.

Mr. Bince, Partido vice chairperson, said the party’s articles of incorporation and by-laws have been prepared for registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Subsequently, Partido will file its application for accreditation as a local political party with Comelec.

Mr. Bince pointed out that “whether accredited or not, as far as we are concerned, this is an aggrupation of Pangasinenses.”

So far, the newly organized party already listed 11 members of the present provincial board, and 30 incumbent mayors and vice mayors who will be running for mayoralty posts in their respective towns.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bince also disclosed that the members of the provincial board running for re-election will file their certificates of candidacy with the CONA (Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance) of the Liberal Party.”

Mr. Bince, however, clarified that the Partido members are still awaiting authority from Second District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil, as president of the Partido.

Meanwhile, other officers of Partido are former Board Member Angel Baniqued Sr. (vice president); Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. (secretary general); Board Member Danilo Uy (treasurer); former Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario (auditor); and directors for every district namely former Board Member Teofilo Humilde for first, Board Member Nestor Reyes for second, Mayor Carlito Zaplan for third, Board Member Liberato Villegas for fourth, Mayor Amadeo Espino for fifth, and Board Member Ranjit Shahani for sixth.

Mr. Bince said the candidates for governor, vice governor, congressmen, and board members of the Partido na Pangasinan will file their respective certificates of candidacy on Monday, October 12. (With report from Johanne Macob)
