OPLAN HULI DAY

LINGAYEN— The Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPPO) intensified its campaign against illegal drugs with a new strategy “Oplan Huli Day.”

PPPO OIC-provincial director, P/Sr. Supt. Rolie Saltat, said the new strategy, which requires the involvement of a cluster of neighboring town when launching operations against drug personalities, was developed in response to the call of Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. to further intensify the provincial government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

“It means if there’s a buy-bust operation in a certain town, police stations in the neighboring towns will conduct checkpoints,” which Saltat explained is an innovation of the PPPO’s “One Time, Big Time” anti-drug operation strategy under the Oplan Lambat Sibat” program of the PNP.

When Oplan Huli Day was launched on October 2-4, 49 operations were conducted that resulted in the arrest of 64 persons out of whom are 12 suspects listed in the watch list, six are on the target list, and three are under the top ten list.

The suspects were arrested in 37 buy-bust operations, 10 through implementation of search warrants, and three through police response.

About 180 police personnel combined their forces together in this three-day “huli day” operations using their newly-issued 20 Mahindra patrol jeeps.

“There will be no more “kanya-kanya (to each his own)” but we work as a team now for better results,” he added. “It’s huli day, meaning arrest, and not holiday because we work overtime,” Saltat added

Among the arrested top drug personalities were Amado Meria of Baracbac, Mangatarem listed as top 10 drug personality of that town, Anjo Palaganas of Barangay Lepa, Malasiqui who is number 2 in the town’s drug watch list, Rosemarie Bravo of Nancamaliran East, Urdaneta City who is in top 6 priority list of drug personalities of said city.

Barbara listed as one of those in drugs watch list, Ernie Pauco of Zone 4, Rosales who is in top 8 drug listed personality, Benedick Dangca of Rosario, La Union who is in top 8, Rafael Lapena of Vacante, Binalonan ranked number 10.

The Dagupan City Police Station had the highest number of accomplishment having arrested nine personalities.

Confiscated in all 49 operations were 136 sachets of shabu; P15,500 cash; one converted 9mm pistol; one caliber .38 revolver; one cal. 45 pistol; one fragmentation hand grenade; assorted ammunitions; and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The operations were launched in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and National Operations Support Unit (NOSUs)- the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Highway Patrol Group, Crime Laboratory, PNP-Special Action Force, and Regional Public Safety Battalion.

Cases have been filed against the suspects.
