Orduña protests Espinos affiliation with LP
BUGALLON–Vice Mayor Rodrigo Orduña of this town protested the reported membership of Gov. Amado Espino Jr., his erstwhile ally- turned- worst nemesis into the Liberal Party.
This, after Mr. Espino and his allies went to an LP event for the announcement of the vice presidential bid of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo as running mate of Mar Roxas in Metro Manila on Tuesday.
A board member who joined Mr. Espino said they had not yet taken their oath with the LP. The source said they were only invited by Pangasinan Second District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil who recently joined the LP to the event declaring Robredo as LP’s vice presidential candidate.
A press statement from Partido na Pangasinan, however, clarified “There is no truth to the rumor circulating in Pangasinan that Gov. Amado Espno Jr was rejected from the Liberal Party” since “Espino “never applied to be affiliated with the Liberal Party.”
He said if Mr. Espino and his allies would be accepted in the LP, “this is very hurting because I tried to put my life at risk and worked hard for the party in the 2013 elections”.
Orduña said he remains with the LP but could not work with Espino.
He said if he would be removed from the LP, he would welcome it but there should be due process and he must be told about the cause for his ouster.
Orduna said he had told Cojuangco earlier that if the LP would not field a gubernatorial bet in Pangasinan, he would vigorously support him.
The statement said Espino is at present the chairman of the newly-formed Partido na Pangasinan in which majority of its members support the presidential bid of Mar Roxas. (Tita Roces)
