LP endorsement for Pogi not necessary, say
NO LP APPLICATION FILED
THE bid of Amado “Pogi” Espino III for governor and his father, Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. for congressman will not be affected by the absence of a nomination from the Liberal Party.
Governor Amado Espino Jr. stressed this as he vehemently belied rumors that the LP rejected his and his son Pogi’s application for membership.
In a text message to The PUNCH, the Partido na Pangasinan also denied rumors that the governor was rejected by the LP.
“In the first place, Gov. Espino never applied to be affiliated with the Liberal Party,” said the message.
Gov. Espino, who is also the elected chairman of the Partido, will reportedly run for congressman in the Fifth District, to contest the re-election bid of incumbent Congressman Kimi Cojuangco.
“It doesn’t matter (the rumored gap between LP and Espino) as I was telling the Governor, you will still be considered candidate but as independent candidate,” Board Member Alfie Bince, Partido vice chairman said.
Cong. Kimi is the wife of former congressman Mark Cojuangco who is running against the Governor’s son. (Johanne Macob)
