GSIS offers milestone benefits
FOR 90-YEAR OLD PLUS PENSIONERS
ONE does not have to be 100 years old to earn a cash bonanza from government this year.
At age 90, one will be entitled to start receiving milestone benefits, and there are 317 ninety years old and above Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) pensioners in Pangasinan that will benefit from this new policy following the good financial status of the agency last year.
Frederick Eric Parahas, officer III of GSIS Dagupan said of the number 311 are 90 to 99 year-old while the six are 100 year-old and above.
The milestone benefit started last September 1 this year while the granting of the cash benefit will be begin in November this year.
“Pensioners who are 90- 94 will receive 20, 000php, 95-99 will receive 50, 000php and the 100 and above will receive 100, 000php given that they are still living upon the day of the awarding of the benefit”, Parahas said.
The benefit will reflect in their pension cards next month.
He clarified that survivorship; easy-pay and retired pensioners are not included in the milestone benefit.
Parahas said milestone benefit might be offered again next year but with decreased amount, 90-94 Php20,000, 95-99 Php30,000 and 100 and above Php50,000.
“We are doing home- visit as verification for those who will qualify in the milestone benefit”, said Parahas.
Aside from the milestone benefit, GSIS also offered two other new benefits to its members such as the “One-time benefit” for the old- aged and disability pensioners and increased funeral benefit.
Parahas said old- aged and disability pensioners were given cash grant equivalent to their one month pension or Php10, 000 whichever is lower last month while the funeral benefit increased by Php10, 000, from Php20, 000 to Php30, 000. (Hilda Austria)
