CPA exam topnotcher is a Dagupeno
THE No. 1 topnotcher in the recently released Certified Public Account (CPA) Licensure Examination from this city said his secret of his success is constant reading and prayers.
Twenty-year-old Ralley Paragas, graduate of Colegio de Dagupan, said that while he was confident that he would make good in the exam, being number one among the 5,468 passers out of 13,317 examinees was a big bonus.
Paragas, a valedictorian in high school and graduated summa cum laude, garnered 92.86 percent in the October 2015 CPA Licensure Examination.
Paragas said he was overjoyed when he received a telephone call around 2:00 a.m. Friday when the result was released telling him that he topped the examination.
“Makapalikliket (I feel ecstatic),” he said in Pangasinan language.
He said as a student, he spent a lot of time studying. “I kept on reading. My routine was to stay home and school only,” he said. Paragas lives in Barangay Tambac here. For leisure, he plays video games.
He said his inspiration is his family, no love interest.
Paragas said being number one is an advanced gift for his birthday on Nov. 4.
As a student, he was trained to be studious and had to maintain a grade not lower than 90 for his scholarship.
He said it was his mother, Evelyn, a Commerce graduate, who encouraged him to take up Accountancy course but he said he learned to love it. His father, Recto, is an auto mechanic.
He said after college graduation, he was already offered scholarship and job by Sycip Gorres Velayo and Co. the country’s largest multidisciplinary professional services firm. Paragas said he had accepted the job offer of SGV and Co.
Paragas advised students “to stay focused on their studies so they can achieve their dreams.”
Aside from Paragas, another Dagupeño, Fern Adriel Velasco, was No. 8 topnotcher, also a graduate of Colegio de Dagupan. (Tita Roces)
