Cong Gina files for reelection
FOR MAR, NOT GRACE
FOURTH District Rep. Gina de Venecia, who filed her candidacy for her reelection at exactly 9:00 a.m. on Oct. 15, expressed strong optimism that the fourth district of Pangasinan will go solid for Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas and running mate Leni Robredo in the May 2016 election.
Speaking during a news conference in Dagupan, De Venecia said all the five mayors in her district now belong to the LP and will campaign hard to make the Roxas-Robredo tandem as well as their candidates for senator win in the coming election in the fourth district.
The LP candidates in the fourth district are (Dagupan City) Mayor Belen Fernandez and her running mate Alfie Fernandez; (Mangaldan) Mayor Bonafe De Vera Parayno whose running mate is Pedro Surdilla Jr,); (San Fabian) Mayor Constante Agbayani and Vice Mayor Leopoldo Manalo ; (San Jacinto) Mayor Robert de Vera and running mate Vice Mayor Rodolfo Columbres; and (Manaoag) Mayor Kim Amador.
At the same time, she reiterated that she belongs to the LP and will support its candidates notwithstanding the fact that she is a good friend of Susan Roces, the adoptive mother of Senator Grace Poe.
Ms. De Venecia said she wrote Roces that in the coming election, she will support Mar Roxas and not Senator Grace Poe.
Meanwhile, Ms. De Venecia, who is seeking her third term under the Liberal Party-Biskeg na Pangasinan (Strength of Pangasinan) political parties, said she is dedicating her third term to the 100th birthday of her late father, Dr. Jose Perez, owner and star maker of Philippine showbiz’s film company Sampaguita Pictures.
Her supporters made a countdown and cheered inside the Commission on Elections provincial office here as the clock struck exactly 9:00 a.m.
“This is for him,” she said.
Perez died in 1972 when he was 59.
“He was young when he died but he lived a full life and helped so many people and the showbiz people that you see today, most of them or their parents and grandparents started with Sampaguita Pictures,” she said. (Leonardo Micua/ Tita Roces)
