Shotgun, ammo seized from barangay kagawad
MALASIQUI–An incumbent barangay councilor in Barangay Palong here was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and the police confiscated a shotgun and assorted ammunition for different guns on September 9.
PO3 Jeffrey Padilla, police investigator of Malasiqui Police Station (MPS) said the search in the house of Barangay Kagawad Jose Boquiren Jr., 40 years old, was based on the search warrant issued by Presiding Judge Hermogenez Fernandez of RTC Branch 56 of San Carlos City.
He said the search party seized from Boquiren’s house one Armscor shotgun with bodyguard model 30, one live ammunition for shotgun, eight live ammunitions for M-16 armalite rifle, four blank ammunitions for M- 16 armalite rifle and three magazines for M-16 armalite rifle (two short and one long).
Boquiren said the ammunition were his father’s who was a former policeman while the shotgun was not his but the barangay’s property issued to the former barangay captain.
Padilla said the case for violation of RA 10591 was filed against the kagawad for regular preliminary investigation. (Hilda Austria)
