LGU – Pangasinan wins Reg’l Kabalikat Award

Lingayen – Pangasinan’s support to technical – vocational education and training (TVET) has been recognized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) led by Director General Joel Villanueva, citing Pangasinan as regional winner and national finalist in the 2015 Kabalikat Award (LGU category – provincial level).
Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) Manager Alex Ferrer received the regional award and national level citation on behalf of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. during TESDA’s anniversary celebration held on August 25 at the agency’s main office in Taguig City.
Highlighting the province’s contribution to TESDA, the PESO, Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Provincial Population Office (PPO) have implemented skills and livelihood trainings, employment and job placements, career coaching and tech-voc scholarship programs in partnership with TESDA, other National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).
Financial assistance amounting to Php13.6M has been released by the province, benefitting 60, 754 program beneficiaries which resulted to 6.9% decrease in poverty incidence in Pangasinan, better than the national performance of 1.1% (NSDB).
Attesting to the provincial government’s support to TVET, TESDA Provincial Director Manuel B. Wong hailed the province for its capital investment, employment generation, skills training programs and advocacy for technical and vocational (tech-voc) education for Pangasinenses.
“Eversince na nagsimula ang TESDA provincial office napaka-supportive na ng provincial government,” Engr. Wong said, as he added that the TESDA compound here has been donated by the province through ‘deed of usufruct.’
The ‘Kabalikat Award’ gives due recognition to the agency’s outstanding partners in the promotion and enhancement of TVET. It is conferred to outstanding institutions, private firms and companies, local government units and legislative partners, recognizing the good practices and contributions in the promotion and development of Filipino skilled workers. /Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca
