CASA REAL RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

LINGAYEN – – The 47 families that formerly resided at the back of Casa Real have readily agreed to be resettled to another place to give way to the scheduled reconstruction of the historical edifice.

According to Provincial Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Office’s OIC, Engr. Angelito Pedeglorio, all the informal settlers in Sitio Lagasit are now “comfortably resettled” in their new homes in Sitio Aplaya, Brgy. Pangapisan here.

The provincial government has assured the resettled families that Sitio Aplaya is equipped with primary necessities like electricity and water supply.

A late report reaching The PUNCH, however, indicated that the resettled families have complained of absence of water service in the area.

Pedeglorio said on Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr.’s orders, before any phase of the construction of Casa Real, the seat of the provincial government during the Spanish era, is started, he wants a full understanding and acceptance of the resettlement plans by the affected families.

It can be recalled that the Casa Real was declared as a National Historical Landmark in which the Espino administration envisioned to transform into a provincial museum to house historical and cultural relics and memoirs that can provide every Pangasinense and the future generation a visual source of information and appreciation of one’s culture.

Mr. Espino said more families especially those who reside along coastal areas will also be transferred to Sitio Aplaya. (PIO/RRB)
