Gov. Espino to PIAS: ‘Stay out of politics’
THE POLICE OF THE POLICE
LINGAYEN— “Stay on the line but stay out of politics.”
This was stressed by Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. in a speech during the blessing of the newly renovated Pangasinan Police Internal Affairs Service (PIAS) office located at the PNP compound on September 4.
Recalling his time as PNP provincial director in 1992 to 1995, Gov. Espino said that it was during those years when he proposed the creation of the internal affairs service, and an exclusive institute be established for it and the PDEA.
Underscoring the need for the complete independence of PIAS to be effective, the governor, suggested that it must be allowed a separate budget from the PNP.
Mr. Espino urged the members of the PIAS to act as “police of the police” by helping promote professionalism in the PNP and to build trust between the police force and the civilian as well.
Meanwhile, P/Sr. Supt Vicente S. Ramoran, Jr., PIAS regional director, thanked the governor for his continuous support to the police force.
He said that with the support of the governor, the vision of the Pangasinan PIAS to be transformed into an independent, impartial, effective and efficient instructional guardian of integrity as essential part of the disciplinary mechanism of the organization by 2016 is possible.
The blessing of the newly renovated facility was highlighted with a thanksgiving ceremony for the newly promoted PIAS personnel to include P/Insp Silvestre L. Sevilla, SPO4 Donald F. Viray, SPO4 Crisanto Munoz, and SPO4 Pedro M. De Guzman. (PIO)
