FVR Library to rise in PHINMA UPang

FORMER President Fidel V. Ramos led the groundbreaking rites for a library building to be named in his honor at the PHINMA University of Pangasinan on Friday.

Set to be inaugurated in March 2016, the Fidel V. Ramos Library will be a tribute to the former President’s legacy and the rich cultural heritage of Pangasinan.

The FVR library will be a modernist three-story edifice that will house the former President’s extensive collection of books and memorabilia to show a glimpse of his life and illustrious career as a civil engineer, author, soldier, academic leader and public servant.

Gov. Amado Espino Jr. joined former President Ramos and officials of Phinma UPang in the groundbreaking rites. 

Also in attendance were former Senator Leticia Shahani and nephew Board Member Ranjit Shahani, former members of Ramos’ cabinet that included former Interior and Local Government Secretary Rafael Alunan.

Phinma Upang, carrying its brand of bringing “bigger, better and best education”, hopes that its newest library facility will be a source of inspiration to the students and the community as they immerse in the life and leadership of former President Ramos and the rich heritage of Pangasinan.

Phinma University of Pangasinan is now the largest private university in Pangasinan.

Before proceeding to Phinma UPang, Ramos first dropped by his native town of Asingan to have his biometric data validated by the Commission on Elections.   

Ramos refused to comment on his preference among would be candidates for the presidency in 2016 elections no one has filed their respective certificates of candidacies. (Leonardo Micua)
