2015 UCAAP INTER-COLLEGIATE BASKETBALL

UCAAP defending champions Lyceum Northwestern Dukes almost had a scare in the first two periods but came out explosive in the third and final junctures, to stab the rejuvenated Philippine College of Science and Technology Topnotch by 31 points, 97-66, with three wins (no losses) in the Universities Colleges Athletic Association of Pangasinan Basketball Championship.

Towing the Topnotch for a slim lead of three points in the first half, 32-29, the Tapuac-based Dukes under the watch of Nanoy Duque, recovered and regained its composure in the third juncture spearheaded by Mangaldan son Aljick Aquino who orchestrated a 24-6 binge to widen the front, 67-49, and never looked back up to the final buzzer.

“We changed our line of attack in the second half with Aquino leading the surge,” Duque elatedly said. “Defense also played a big role for us to rout them for good,” he added.

Roxar Melendez scored a team high16 points with rookie point-guard Deither Roxas contributing 14 and Aquino with 12 all done in the third quarter.

Topnotch power-forward Rhenz Abando had a team high 15 points while Francis dela Peña and Sysmon Estrera contributed 11 points apiece.
