Capitol, 3 cities, 14 towns receive awards

SEAL OF GOOD LOCAL GOVERNANCE

THE provincial government, the local governments of the cities of Alaminos, Dagupan and San Carlos and 16 towns earned their respective Seal of Good Local Governance from the Department of Interior and Local Government in a Conferment Ceremony at Oasis Country Resort and Hotel in San Fernando City, La Union on September 16. 

The 16 municipalities cited for good governance are Alcala (Mayor Ryan Paolo V. Mencias), Basista (Mayor Manolito De Leon), Bautista (Mayor Amadeo T. Espino), Bayambang (Mayor Ricardo Camacho), Binalonan (Mayor Ramon V. Guico III), Bugallon (Mayor Jumel Anthony I. Espino), Burgos (Mayor Alberto Guiang Jr.), Dasol (Mayor Noel A. Nacar), Laoac (Mayor Silverio D. Alarcio), Mabini (Mayor Carlitos Reyes), Malasiqui (Mayor Felicitas Soriano), Mangaldan (Mayor Bonafe D. Parayno), San Fabian (Mayor Constante Agbayani), Sta. Maria (Mayor Teodoro A. Ramos), Sto. Tomas (Mayor Timoteo S. Villar) and Sual (Mayor Robert L. Arcinue).

Mayors Belen T. Fernandez (Dagupan City), Julier C. Resuello (San Carlos City) and Arthur F. Celeste (Alaminos City) formally received the Seal of Good Local Governance for their city respective governments.  

Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. received the provincial government’s second Seal award.

Only the provincial governments of Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan are SGLG provincial awardees.

Risa Hontiveros, PhilHealth Director and Akbayan Party chair, who represented the new Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Sarmiento rallied the LGUs in the region to continue to promote the “Daang Matuwid” program of the Aquino administration.

DILG Region 1 Officer-In-Charge Director Julie J. Daquioag told local media that that Region 1 registered the most number of SGLG awardees among all regions.

All the recipients of the SGLG received the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) of P7 million for the provinces, P5 million for the cities and P3 million for the municipalities to fund their priority projects. (With report from CIO)
