Farmer dies from snake bite
SAN CARLOS CITY—A farmer died Thursday, two days after he was brought to Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) for treatment after he was bitten by a snake.
Dr. Policarpio Manuel, PPH director, identified the fatality as Romeo Asani, 33, from Barangay San Eugenio, Natividad town.
Asani’s relatives said he was bitten by a cobra in his right ankle. His relatives said they managed to kill the snake.
Manuel said they administered anti-snake venom injection to Asani good for 12 hours.
He said the chances for survival of snake-bitten patients is only one percent if the snake, like the cobra, is venomous.
Meanwhile, Manuel said he received a call Thursday from Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug town for transfer to PPH of another patient bitten by a snake.
