LINGAYEN— The provincial board here hailed the performance of more young athletes.

Last week, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan passed a resolution “commending the athletes from Pangasinan who excelled in their respective events in the recently concluded 28th Southeast Asian Games held in Singapore last June 5-16.”

Among the Filipino athletes who succeeded in their mission by winning medals in their respective fields are Ma. Claire Adorna, Harlene Raguin, and Hermie Macaranas.

Adorna, from Mangatarem town, won gold medal in the women’s individual triathlon event; Raguin, from Bolinao, garnered two silver medals in the women’s individual and women’s team epee fencing events, while Macaranas, from Bautista, clinched four bronze medals in the men’s C1-1000m, men’s C2-1000m, men’s C1-200m, and men’s C2-200 m kayak events.

“The accomplishments of these athletes in displaying high level of performance and excellence in sports is worthy of emulation among other youths and sports enthusiasts in the province,” stated the resolution.

The resolution, authored by all board members, added that the athletes deserve the commendation not only of the officials and leaders of this great province but of the entire citizenry as well. (Johanne Macob)
