DAGUPAN CITY- Immediately upon arrival from her trip to the USA, Mayor Belen T. Fernandez convened a meeting of the city’s department heads on July 10, to discuss the results of her trip.

“We have a lot of Dagupeños in the USA who are willing to share their resources to help their less fortunate kabaleyans here,” Fernandez said.

The mayor told her department heads that Dagupan will soon forge a Friendship City Agreement with Daly City which, she said, will benefit the Manlingkor ya Kalangweran (young city officials).

The agreement, she said, is to have a study exchange program in month of October between Daly and Dagupan cities.

She added that she will also bring some of the department heads for a study tour to Daly City for them to learn about its  best practices.
Fernandez said she also met the Mayor of Duarte City, a Dagupeña from Bonuan Gueset.

“Mayor Jinky of Duarte made me so proud because she is from Dagupan and during our meeting she agreed to host our Manlinkor student officials for them to learn about their education, culture and arts,” the mayor said.

Fernandez also thanked Erlinda Aquino and the Daughters of Mary Immaculate International for the several sacks of rice and boxes of sardines they donated and which were distributed to more than 800 indigent senior citizens in the city.

“Thank you for sharing your blessings to your less fortunate kabaleyans,” the mayor said.

Another Dagupeño group, the Bonuan Association of Southern California, pledged to conduct medical mission and feeding activities in the city.

Fernandez also visited Autism Center and Senior Citizens Center whose systems she intends to apply in Dagupan to provide better services for children with autism and senior citizens.

She said she invited the overseas Dagupeños to the City Fiesta and Bangus Festival. (CIO)
