MORE PUSHERS ARRESTED

LINGAYEN–There is no let-up in the campaign by lawmen against illegal drugs as five more suspects fell in intensified anti-drug operations in various parts of the province.

Among those arrested were a notorious drug personality in Mangaldan, a courier of a top drug personality in Dagupan, an ex-Philippine Constabulary officer from Urbiztondo and a top drug dealer in Urdaneta City and his live-in partner.

The buy-bust operations were conducted separately by agents of the local police and the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) in coordination of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Arrested in Mangaldan town was Raymund Santiago, alias “Pudong”, 35, of Barangay Embarcadero, Mangaldan, a notorious drug personality in that town.

CARTOONnews-150607Superintendent Jackie Candelario, chief of the Mangaldan Police, said Santiago fell in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Macayug conducted by a policeman poseur buyer.

Believed to be the supplier of illegal drugs in his village and in adjacent San Jacinto, Santiago has been placed under month-long surveillance for his illegal drug dealing activities.

One gram of shabu placed in two plastic sachets with estimated value of P2,500 including the marked money were seized from the suspect.

Meanwhile, a young lady was arrested in a buy-bust operation on A. B. Fernandez Avenue in Dagupan City in the afternoon of June 3.

Andrea Gabrillo, 21, identified to be a courier of one drug personality named Johaira Ampuan, was arrested in front of the Philippine National Bank (PNB) when she attempted to sell 50 grams of shabu worth P250,000 from a police poseur buyer.

Ampuan still remains at large.

The police poseur used a marked money of P500 on top of thinly cut pieces of paper called boodle money, said Supt. Benjamn Ariola, chief of the PAIDSOTG, who led the operation.

Ariola said the transaction was supposed to take place in Lucao with Ampuan but instead sent Gabrillo to deliver the illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, PAIDSOTG announced the arrest of a former Philippine Constabulary soldier from whom five grams of shabu valued at P35,000 was seized.

Arrested by lawmen was Wilfredo Mondero, alias Agila, of Barangay Calaris, Urbiztondo who fell in a buy-bust operation set by operatives at the boundary of Urbiztondo and Bayambang.

In Urdaneta City, the fifth drug personality in the drug watch list and his live-in partner were also arrested in another successful buy-bust operation by lawmen.

The suspect was identified by Supt. Jeff Fanged, chief of the Urdaneta Police, as Nickelson Evangelista, also known as “Ukle”, 22, of Zone 4, Barangay Nancamaliran, Urdaneta City.

Evangelista’s live-in partner was identified as Brenda Elardo, 20, of Samar.

The police seized nine sachets and one opened sachet with shabu residue, all with estimated value of P200,000, one Cal. 38 revolver with two bullets and drug paraphernalia from the suspects. (Leonardo Micua/Hilda Austria)
