SOME 200 live-in couples are expected to exchange marriage vows in a mass civil ceremony on June 26 this year to be officiated by Mayor Belen Fernandez at the City Astrodome.

Alex de Venecia, city population officer, said the city government will undertake all costs for the couples in line with the provision of City Ordinance No. 2019-204.

The couples, however, are required to undergo a seminar on family planning and responsible parenthood after submitting documents that include birth certificates, residence certificates, certificate of no marriage to be obtained from the Philippine Statistics Agency (PSA).

Mayor Fernandez said that unless a couple is legally married, they cannot qualify for the socialized housing program of the city government.
