Sustainable Assistance to an SAF fallen trooper widow

LINGAYEN- – -Miya Mejia, the widow of PO2 Efraim Mejia who was one of the SAF Fallen 44, expressed gratitude to Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. for the support that the provincial government has accorded to her and to her two-year-old daughter.

The young widow said that more than the financial grant of P100,000 and the work offered to her, the support of the provincial government goes beyond the material things.

Mia disclosed that being left alone by a loved one especially a husband is a tragic experience but knowing that a lot of people care is a big relief on her part.

It can be recalled that the provincial government extended its support to Mia through a cash grant given personally by the governor last month through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

In addition, the present administration also provided an employment opportunity to the widow who is now working at the Eastern District Hospital in Tayug as a hospital clerk Point-of-Care staff.

Nagpapasalamat po ak okay Governor Espino sa suportang ibinigay niya. Para po sa anak ko ito,” Mia said as she further added that both the cash grant and the job came unexpectedly.

Thankful of the employment given to her, she stressed that the job allows her to make use of her time fruitfully as she is able to mingle with other people who now serves as her ‘extended support group.’

The cash grant, Mia disclosed on interview, will be saved for her child’s future educational needs.
