LINGAYEN— Various sports activities packed this year’s observance of Pista’y Dayat (sea festival) in the capital town of Pangasinan. New and festival favorite sports that include boxing, volleyball, skimboarding, and kiteboarding were held since April 27.

The 6th Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. Boxing Cup dubbed Paboksing Ed Gulpo was held on April 29 at the Lingayen Beachfront while 12 teams composed of two players each team for slots in the annual Women’s Beach Volleyball competition on April 30 and May 1.

Skimboarding, a new sports competition at the Pista’y Dayat, was held from April 27 to May 1. During last year’s festival, a skimboarding clinic was conducted, but it was only this year that a competition is staged. A kiteboarding clinic was held at the Lingayen Beachfront.

As a concluding activity of the festival, the provincial government prepared a free live telecast of the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center gymnasium.  (Johanne Macob)
