Parents advised to buy non-toxic school supplies

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminds parents to carefully check if the school supplies they are purchasing for their children are properly labeled to be protected against toxic or hazardous substances.

“The packaging of the product should bear the brand or trade mark, name and address of manufacturer/distributor/importer, country of manufacture/origin (if imported), net quantity, and toxicity warning,” Marjury Lorezco of DTI-Pangasinan, said during the Pantongtongan Tayo radio program of PIA-Pangasinan on Tuesday.

She added that imported products are required to have an English translation so products without the required English translation should be avoided.

Consumer complaints involving school supplies and/or other violations of R.A. 7394 may be filed with the nearest DTI office in their area. (PIA-Pangasinan)
