MBTF awards scholarships to 525 students

THE Mayor Belen T. Fernandez Scholarship Program benefitted 525 poor but deserving students after they were granted scholarships in tertiary/baccalaureate and or vocational/technical courses.

Mayor Fernandez promised the students and their parents that the city will continue to send them to school until they graduate provided that they finish their courses within the period indicated in the curriculum and maintain an average of not less than 80 percent with no failing grade in any subject.

At the same time, the mayor enjoined the scholars to dream and reach their dream through hard work and perseverance.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Leah L. Aquino said to qualify the gross annual income of the parents of the scholars must not be more than P120,000 per annum. The program also allows a one- time availment for siblings.

Each scholar will receive a maximum amount of P10,000 for educational assistance per semester,” said Aquino. But in the event the grantee fails to fulfill the terms and conditions the scholarship grant will be automatically cancelled.
