DAGUPAN CITY – Visitors, balikbayans and local folks enjoyed sampling the many ways of cooking Dagupan bangus influenced by international culture in the 2015 Bangus Festival’s “Bangusine” Bangus International Cuisine Showcase at the city plaza on April 27.

The crowd became even more excited when GMA Kapuso star Camille Pratts appeared and cooked her own favorite dish – the Dagupan bangus belly steak.

Eight universities and colleges; three groups representing the Indian community, Japan and Korea; and a restaurant joined this year’s Bangusine.

The universities and colleges were the Philippine College of Science and Technology (PCST), University of Luzon (UL), Divine Word Academy of Dagupan (DWAD), Colegio de Dagupan (CDD), Pangasinan State University (PSU)-Binmaley, Senior Tesoro Culinary School, Lyceum Northwestern University, and University of Pangasinan (UPang).

The different associations included the Indian Community, the Nippon Skilled Volunteers Association (NISVA) of Japan and the Raon Atti of Korea under Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Pangasinan.

Nena’s Garden also took part in the showcase.

The participants cooked the Dagupan bangus the way other countries cooked their favorite food like Thailand, Bangladesh, Rome, Greece, Romania, India, China, France, Singapore, Germany, Mexico, Malaysia, Morrocan, Italy, Japan, Vietnam, Great Britain, Cambodia, Spain and Korea.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez led the opening ceremony together with the representative of Unilever Philippines, Precious Diane Virriolo; City Legal Officer George Mejia, City Nutrition Officer, and City Social Welfare and Development Officer In Charge Leah L. Aquino.

NISVA and Sr. Tesoro received a special award from Unilever Philippines for coming out with the tastiest dish of the Dagupan bangus and for having the best-adorned booth respectively. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
