Glitches in e-filing not an excuse — BIR
URDANETA CITY—Amid complaints from taxpayers about difficulties encountered with the electronic filing and paying online system (EFPS) and electronic filing of Bureau of Internal Revenue forms (EFBF), the Revenue District Office 6 (RDO6) here said the situation is not an excuse not to pay taxes due on time.
Bernadette Mangaoang, assistant revenue district officer of RDO6 said the complaint with the new system is common to all district offices.
However, Atty. Nasrollah Conding, revenue district officer of RDO6 warned that taxpayers who fail to pay on time will still be penalized notwithstanding the problems of taxpayers with the new system.
Conding said taxpayers can still file and pay manually if the online system rejects an attempt to access it.
He said taxpayers should bring the proof of their failure to access the system to the district office within 15 days after the attempt to file electronically.
“This should not be an excuse because if they failed to pay their taxes on time, certain penalties will be applied according to the law”, Conding said.
Meanwhile, Mangaoang said RDO6 had already enrolled more than 60% of their target taxpayers in the EFPS and EFBF. (Hilda Austria)
