“Blood Mo, Type Ko, Free Ito” campaign in Dagupan

THE Dagupan City Blood Coordinating Council (DCBCC) seeks to enroll at least one percent of the barangay population under the program “Blood mo, Type ko, Free ito” blood typing activity that will be conducted in 31 barangays.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez said that the program aims to organize a number of walking blood donors in each barangay who can be tapped to help anyone in need of blood transfusion, especially those afflicted with dengue, mothers giving birth and persons injured in accidents.

City Health Officer Dr. Leonard Carbonell said having “walking blood donors” is better than storing blood in a stock room only to expire when not used because they will only be asked to donate when the need arises.

But before the conduct of blood typing in each barangay, the DCBCC will first conduct an information campaign. (CIO)
