Assault rifle, grenade. ammo seized in Dagupan
WHILE the Dagupan’s famed “Bangusan Street Party” was peaking at 11:30 p.m. on April 30, two men were arrested in a house on Jose R. de Venecia Expressway Extension in Barangay Lucao near the event site for possessing an assault rifle, fragmentation grenade, several magazines and ammunition.
Arrested by joint police elements led by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) were one Bernabe Padilla and a certain Tattong, both residents of Barangay Lucao, Dagupan City.
They were arrested when the police raided the houses of Rudy Padilla Sr. and Rudy Padilla Jr. by virtue of a search warrants issued on April 28 by Regional Trial Court Judge Renato Pinlac of Branch 57 in San Carlos City.
However, the two persons who were subjects of the search warrants, the Padilla father and son, were not around.
Seized from that raid were Cal. 5.56 Baby Armalite Rifle with brand name Rock River Arms loaded with ammunition, one fragmentation hand grenade, three pieces of long and five short magazines of Cal. 5.56, two magazines for Cal. 45 pistol, three ammunition for Cal. 45 and 80 live ammunition for Cal, 5.56
Cases for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 were already filed against the suspects.
Meanwhile, a security guard was arrested at about 7:45 p.m. also on April 30 at the entrance of the Bangusan Street party on A.B. Fernandez Avenue West.
The suspect, Marven Basaen, 32, of the Solid North Security Agency, of Tuliao, Sta. Barbara, was carrying a Cal. 38 Shooters revolver.
He was arrested when he could not show a Permit to Carry Firearm and Fire Arm License to arresting police officers.
He was also charged for violation of RA 1059.
