Two job fairs offer 10,000 positions

ABOUT 10,000 jobs are expected to be offered to jobseekers during the May 1 job fairs being organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Region1 Office in celebration of 2015 Labor Day.

DOLE 1 Regional Director Grace Ursua said a job and livelihood fair will be held at the SM City, Rosales, Pangasinan on April 30, and at Robinsons Place, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte on May 1.

She said at least 60 local employers and licensed recruitment agencies will be at SM City Rosales jobs fair and another 40 will be at the Robinsons Place.

In both job fairs, job openings are for customer service representatives and technical support representatives, while recruitment for overseas job orders will be open for skilled construction workers, nurses and other medical workers, hotel and restaurant workers.

A livelihood display fair will also be featured at the SM City Rosales where products from DOLE-assisted projects will be showcased to interest entrepreneurs.  A table will be set up for inquiries about DOLE livelihood program, its requirements, guidelines and procedures.

At the SM City jobs fair, one-stop-shop employment services will also be provided by the Social Security System, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board and National Labor Relations Commission.  The OWWA, POEA and TESDA will offer their one-stop-shop services at the Robinsons Place jobs fair.

The PRC will be available for registration of license, application for examination, renewal of ID card, releasing of available ID cards, authentication, certification, including legal advice and others.  (Tita Roces)
