LINGAYEN – A 22-year-old high school teacher from Sta. Barbara easily impressed the members of the local media with her communication skills that perfectly matched her queenly aura, to earn the “Darling of the Press” award during their press presentation last week held at the Capitol Resort here.
Maybelle Q. Pameroyan won the hearts of the press not only with her looks but with how she defined ‘success’ during the Q&A portion of the presentation.
“When it comes to a point when you look back in your life and you have no regrets…” she said, outdoing others in the eyes of the members of the media.
Pameroyan, a cum laude graduate of the Pangasinan State University Bayambang campus, teaches English to Grade 7 students at the Daniel Maramba National High School in her hometown.
Asked how the pageant might affect her career, considering what her students might say, she said, “I know that I’ll be a great example to my students because I didn’t let my profession be a limit to me to reach my goals in life.”
“I feel blessed and very thankful because I know that it’s a privilege for me to be chosen (as darling of the press) by so many very proficient and efficient media person. I am very thankful to you (the media) and to God as well,” she added.
“Since I will be their inspiration, they will strive more to achieve their own goals, setting aside whatever is in the way. I know that someday, they will say that Ma’am is my great example… she is someone to be emulated. I guess there’s nothing wrong with a teacher joining a pageant,” she pointed out.
Pameroyan won beauty titles during her college days — Ms. Campus in PSU Bayambang, Ms. PSU, Ms. Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) – Region 1. She also competed in the national search for Ms. State College and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) and among the first set of candidates of Galicayo Camilliana beauty search.
