A TOTAL of 1,760 pupils from the city’s 46 day care centers graduated on March 21 during mass recognition rites held at the CSI Stadia.
In her speech, Mayor Belen Fernandez recalled how she started helping the day care centers starting in the 1980s when she was still a businesswoman and not yet in politics.
Fernandez continued supporting the day care centers and their teachers until she became a City Councilor, Vice-Mayor and now City Mayor.
“The recognition day for day care pupils has always been a special day for me as I have always upheld early child development, ensuring that our young Dagupenos are given their right to education,” said Fernandez.
Fernandez assured both parents and teachers that the local government will continue to give importance and uphold early child development through the day care centers.
More than 40 day care centers in the city were accredited for the first time last year, all of which passed the standards set by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region I.
Dagupan was recently chosen as the most child-friendly city in Region 1 and is now a national nominee.
After the ceremony, the kids and their parents received grocery packs as graduation gifts. (CIO)
