MORE than 1000 kids in Barangay Calmay were given free baths last February 25 as part of Mayor Belen Fernandez’s “Balon Dagupan, Healthy Dagupan” program on health and wellness.
The ‘Healthy Dagupan Libreng Paligo para sa mga Bata’ is a joint project of the LGU and multinational Procter and Gamble (P&G) Philippines, the same company that partnered with the city government for the “Waste to Worth” project in the city.
Mayor Fernandez, together with Punong Barangay Evangelita dela Cruz, personally supervised the of the bathing the young children who happily played under the shower. Angeli Almonte, P&G key account manager, said the project aims to promote personal hygiene to children and teach the communities as well on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
“It’s part of our company’s corporate social responsibility to reach out the communities and we have partnered with the local government (Dagupan) to create awareness on over-all health,” said Almonte.
Mayor Fernandez said it is important that children, as well as their parents, are taught on the importance of good hygiene.
After the shower, the children were provided with free medical check-up and a nutritious meal, as well as loot bags containing personal hygiene products, and a fresh set of clothes, all from P&G. # (CIO-Patrick Cendred/Photo by Mitz Cresencio)
