DAGUPAN CITY – The City Population Office has started mobilizing men in the city as partners in women empowerment and gender equality under the KAlalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at Obligasyon sa PAmilya (KATROPA), a program of the Commission on Population.

City Population Officer Alex P. De Venecia said that it is important for men to realize and appreciate their role and position in the society in bringing gender equality and family development.

“It is time for men to realize their capacity to be a partner of women in family and societal development and make personal commitment to address the barriers to gender equality and family development by becoming a KATROPA or makabagong lalake or in our own language a balon lake under Balon Dagupan,” De Venecia said.

KATROPA means a group of male peers who are grouped collectively in promoting maternal and child health and responsible parenting. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
