STO. TOMAS—Biskeg na Pangasinan (Strength of Pangasinan) the only accredited provincial political party in the province is gearing up for its revitalization this year in preparation for the 2016 elections.

Antonio Villar Jr., founding chairman/president of the group, said Friday that he will personally attend to the needs of the party and expand its membership subject to the approval of screening committee to be organized.

Villar, also chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board, said he decided to revive it last month after it was dormant for almost two years.

He said he decided to turn over, albeit temporarily, the handling of the affairs of the group in 2012 to another provincial official, to attend to some other equally important matters.

But he said he was not happy with the turn of events as there was lull in the activities of the group.

Villar said he was prompted to take over again the leadership of Biskeg na Pangasinan upon the prodding of several original officers and members, citing various reasons.

With him on top of the group’s leadership, the political party remains neutral for now for the 2016 elections yet as it has not declared yet whom it would support, Villar said.

He said this will not bind any member to support a particular aspirant until the right time comes for the 2016 electoral exercise.

Biskeg na Pangasinan is duly accredited by the Commission on Elections and its members are elected officials across the province. It is composed of influential political leaders in this premier province.  (Tita Roces)
