THE Dagupan City Treasurer’s Office has sent more than 1,000 warrants of levy to delinquent real property owners in Dagupan since September 30 this year in a bid to compel them to pay their dues with a cumulative total of P6.4 million.

City Treasurer Romelita Alcantara reported the issuance of warrants to Mayor Belen Fernandez after the delinquent real property owners ignored the first and final demand letters sent to them.

Alcantara asked that the names of the delinquent property owners be posted in the city’s website www.dagupan.gov.ph for their information.

She recommended the posting of the list in the city’s website as there are property owners who are residing overseas.

Records show that 769 of these properties are located in Bonuan Gueset, 179 in Barangay Calmay, 78 in Caranglaan and 89 in both Herrero Perez and Lasip Chico.

The delinquent properties in other parts of the city are still being collated by Alcantara’s office.

The city treasurer said after the posting on the website, the names of delinquent property owners and the amount of their unpaid taxes will be published in local newspaper before the properties are submitted for public auction.

At the same time, she admitted that there are 64 business establishments  in the city that have been issued final demand letters due to non-payment of their business permits.

The list was endorsed to her office by the One-Stop Business Center for closure.

Alcantara also submitted a list of 75 stallholders in the public markets that are delayed in their rental payments and are therefore due for closure as well.

Mayor Fernandez, however, advised Alcantara to direct the delinquent stallholders to report to the city hall to personally receive final advice of closure before enforcing the ordinance. (LVM)
