LINGAYEN– A provincial government employee survived an attempt on her life by still unidentified gunmen riding-in-tandem in the afternoon of November 4, 2014.

The victim, Judith Santillan, 50 years old, an employee of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office was shot in front of her house on Guilig St., Poblacion.

The two suspects apparently followed Santillan from her office at the Capitol and fired at her as she was about to enter her house.

The victim sustained serious injuries in the abdomen and other parts of the body. She is now confined at a hospital in Dagupan City and undergoing surgical operations.

In a press statement, Governor Amado Espino Jr., condemned “in strongest terms this latest act of violence inflicted upon a totally defenseless, peace-loving and easily one of the most hard working senior employees of the provincial treasurer’s office.”

“I call on the PNP Provincial command to give its full attention to this violent incident and exert all means to identify and arrest these criminals immediately,” he added.

OIC-provincial police director Sr. Supt. Reynaldo Biay vowed to further intensify it campaign even as he assured the governor that efforts will be exerted to solve recent shooting incident at the soonest possible time.

The shooting of the government employee involving hitmen riding in tandem happened a month after the police reported a significant decline in the number of shooting incidents in the last 4 months compared to the same period last year, from 118 to 85 incidents. (Johanne Macob)
