Leah Aquino, City Social Welfare and Development officer-in-charge, said the initial batch of beneficiaries were provided training and seminars on production, entrepreneurship and business management.

They were also taught on proper food management practices and standard sanitary procedures.
In return, the beneficiaries are expected to protect not just the equipment but the trust given them by the city government and DOLE.

One of the street vendors to receive food cart is Roda Andongo, who for 15 years sold native delicacies such as “lumpia”, “ukoy”, and “turon” in her modest cart in Barangay Poblacion Oeste.

Andongo thanked Mayor Fernandez and DOLE for the food cart which means more customers will be buying her street food.
