LINGAYEN—Improved irrigation, agricultural infrastructure, post-harvest development projects and other integrated services will soon be provided by the Department of Agriculture (DA) to local government units (LGUs) in Pangasinan.

This is the objective of the resolution approved by the provincial board last week that authorized Gov. Amado Espino Jr. to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the DA-Regional Field Office 1 (RFO1) and the Regional Agriculture Fishery Council (RAFC) for the delivery of more services to the province.

Acting-Provincial agriculturist Dalisay Moya said, to complement the initiative, the program will engage the services of the engineers of the provincial government assigned to the Provincial Agriculture Office..

The engineers will be tasked to supervise and monitor the implementation of the projects that include rehabilitation and construction of small water-impounding projects in Eastern and Central Pangasinan, the maintenance of rice processing center, palay dryer facilities, multi-purpose centers, and post-harvest facilities.

The projects, to be funded by the DA, will be implemented in 2015 and 2016. (Johanne Macob)
