Alcala’s officials stay on course with Cojuangco

SISON—They came in full force, from the mayor, vice mayor, entire Municipal Council members to the 21 barangay captains, plus their former mayor, all from the town of Alcala, with one single purpose — to show their full support to ensure that the bid for the province’s top post of former Pangasinan Fifth District Rep. Mark Cojuangco is realized.
The historic pledging of commitment happened Thursday night at the home compound of Cojuangco, with Mayor Ryan Paolo Mencias leading fellow town officials with former Mayor Manuel Collado and the mayor’s father, Engr. Reynaldo Mencias, in expressing their unwavering support for the former congressman and his tandem, Calasiao Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay for governor and vice governor respectively in 2016.
Alcala officials led by Mayor Ryan Paolo Mencias pledge to support until the very end the tandem of former fifth district Rep. Mark Cojuangco and Calasiao Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay for governor and vice governor respectively in the 2016 elections in a gathering in Sison town Thursday night.
The young Alcala mayor and his colleagues all recalled how their town had greatly benefited from Cojuangco’s projects in their town, “making sure that the last centavo was wisely spent for the project, otherwise he (Cojuangco) would demand that the contractor to redo the construction”.
Mencias and his group’s open declaration of support for Cojuangco and Macanlalay belies rumors that they are supporting another gubernatorial wannabe.
Mencias said he failed to come on Oct. 6 during the birthday celebration of Cojuangco where fifth district mayors expressed their unity in support of Cojuangco’s bid as he was then attending to a personal family matter.
“Better days are ahead for Pangasinan with Congressman Cojuangco and his tandem,” the mayor said.
Collado said in the last municipal elections, Mencias team enjoyed a 10-0 win because of the strong backing of Cojuangco. Collado serves as an adviser of Mencias.
The elder Mencias, considered as Alcala’s godfather, said as an engineer he lets his works deliver the results, rather than his ability to talk.
For his part, Cojuangco said he is humbled by their outpouring of support for his political plans.
“I planned this (gubernatorial bid) because I believe I can be of much help to our province. He said his only promise, as he had done as a congressman, is to do and give his best to accomplish his mission to make Pangasinan progress and to uplift the lives of Pangasinenses,” Cojuangco said.
Macanlalay was also present and thanked the officials and people of Alcala for being one with them.
Cojuangco said he is inspired to see officials and their constituents welcoming them warmly and manifesting their commitment for the 2016 elections.
