UL Golden Tigers are PRISAA champs anew

PRISAA METRO DAGUPAN TOURNAMENT

THE University of Luzon Golden Tigers, displaying time-tested experience, successfully defended their PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) championship crown by beating Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA) Sea Warriors, 81-77, in Game 2 of their best-of-three titular showdown in the PRISAA Metro Dagupan Basketball Tournament.

UL head coach Byron M. Vidal said he was doubly happy because aside from bagging the title anew, he was voted as the Coach of the Year and two of his dependable wards were named to the Mythical Five of the Tournament, namely Dennis Cuaresma, also the named Most Valuable Player and Brian Sandoval.

PAMMA ended up 1st runner-up and for which head coach Benjamin Adogol was also elated to have two of his warriors voted to the Mythical Five: Joseph Angeles and Ismael Rigor de Leon. Completing the mythical quintet was Richard Santos of AIEC.

In the preceding one knock-out game battle between AIE College (AIEC) Green Eagles nipped Colegio de Dagupan (CdD) Blue Stallions 102-99, to earn third place. Immediately after the championship game, trophies and medals were awarded to the winners by PRISAA Metro Dagupan officials who announced that for its victory.

UL will represent the local PRISAA in the regional games but should there be no opposing teams from other divisions, the Golden Tigers may end up representing the region in the National Games .

This year’s PRISAA Metro Dagupan Basketball Tournament was also dubbed “Mayor Belen T. Fernandez Cup” 24th Season. –Philamer C. Celi
