LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The provincial health office (PHO) will begin to focus its program on the campaign against tuberculosis (TB.

Dr. Anna Theresa De Guzman, provincial health officer disclosed that while the number of Pangasinenses with TB disease has been reduced, making the disease from fourth to now the ninth among the causes of death in the province, the PHO is determined to remove TB in the list.

The PHO recorded more than 7, 000 Pangasinenses with TB.

“Our next programs will be on our campaign against TB as we believe that there is still that stigma with the disease which hinders those with TB to come out in the open and expose their health problem”, said De Guzman. She urged those who are suffering with cough for more than two weeks or those who suspect they have the disease to consult the health authorities since TB is curable and the medication can be availed free in government health centers and hospitals.
