Pangasinan products go global

LINGAYEN- Pangasinan’s vaunted and popular products were showcased in a world trade expo held in the United States last October 3-4, 2014 that saw Gov. Amado Espino Jr. and Vice Gov. Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. making the pitch for the local producers.

On display were wood/bamboo furniture and handicrafts, Lingayen bagoong and other fish sauce, Mangaldan peanut brittle, among others competed with products from 30 other countries.

The “Diversity Business Exposition” held in the city of Artesia, California drew some 30,000 US buyers including importers and wholesalers from other countries.

Espino and Calimlim led the province’s official delegation that included Board Members Nestor Reyes, Generoso Tulagan, Jr. and Raul Sison; Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary Verna Perez; Tourism Operations Division Chief Malu Elduayan; and Darwina Sampang, vice governor’s chief of staff.

The governor said he has a meeting agenda with various Pangasinan associations in California for possible collaboration for the promotion of the province’s tourism industry and discussion of investment opportunities in the province.

Espino clarified that the travel expenses of the ​members of the delegation are borne by them and not by the provincial government.

Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan said the governor maintains constant communication with him on the day-to-day operations of the capitol.

Meanwhile, Board Member Danilo Uy is acting vice governor from October 1 to 9. Board Member Napoleon Fontelera Jr. was the acting governor from September 29-3.

The Pangasinan’s participation in the first-ever business expo was arranged by the Pangasinan-USA Brotherhood Association led by Eddie Ferrer, a native of San Carlos City; in partnership with the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of South East Los Angeles (FACC-SEC) based in California led by Felix B.
