Pangasinan posts 110, 000 SK voters
THE province’s voters for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) has reached 110,000 after 32, 773 new voters registered during the ten-day registration period that ended on September 29, exceeding the Commission on Election (Comelec) provincial office’s target of 30, 000 registrants.
Lawyer Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said he was not surprised that the bulk of registrants were recorded in the last three days because that was the trend over the years.
San Carlos City had the most number of registrants with 2, 261 followed by Malasiqui (2, 211), Bayambang (1, 425), Sta. Barbara (1, 210) and Dagupan City (1, 197).
The list of SK voters will be validated by the Election Regulation Board (ERB) on October 20 and the final list will be posted after.
Meanwhile, Salas expressed support for the Comelec central office’s call for the postponement of the SK election even as he explained that the next concern is the validation of the regular voters with incomplete biometric data that will be deferred owing to the SK election.
He said the number of voters with incomplete biometric data in Pangasinan has been reduced to 200, 000 from 300,000. (Hilda M. Austria/PNA)
