This is the government’s latest initiative to improve the infrastructure of public schools in the city in line with the commitment of the city executive to prioritize education in the city.

When completed it would provide some 1,200 students a venue for their school functions and extra-curricular activities.

The gymnasium, as planned, will also serve as an evacuation center for the residents of Barangay Bonuan Gueset in times of disasters.

Alicia Quimboy, NCES principal expressed her gratitude to the mayor for her continuous support for the school, recalling how Fernandez even as  the city vice mayor helped NCES.

“In behalf of all the faculty and students of North Central Elementary School, we want to thank Mayor Fernandez for this early Christmas gift which will stand as symbol of her commitment in improving the education sector in our city” said Quimboy.

This project and the rehabilitation of other public facilities are parts of the LGU mission to funnel back to the people the taxes paid by them.

“I am happy that the students here will now have a place to gather, interact and play sports. It is part of my vision to continuously develop our schools and improve the performance our students,” said Fernandez.

Fernandez earlier led the groundbreaking of another multi-purpose court at the East Central Integrated School.

Construction of another covered court in Bonuan Boquig Elementary School and rehabilitation of other gymnasiums are also set within the year.
