Dagupan couple caught red-handed pushing drugs
A COUPLE was arrested at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in Sitio America, Barangay Bonuan Binloc in Dagupan City in a buy-bust operation conducted by the police.
Arrested were spouses Jimmy Simeon, 50, jobless and his wife Baby Rose Simeon, 49. a housewife, after selling one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu worth P500 to an undercover police operative front of their home.
Photographs, markings and inventory receipt of the confiscated evidence were submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory in San Fernando, La Union for examination.
A case for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Art II of Republic Act 9165 is now being prepared against the suspects who are now being held at the Dagupan Police jail.
Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of the police, said the illegal activities of the couple was generated from text messages sent by concerned citizens of Barangay Bonuan Binloc coursed through the hotline of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC).
Abrahano said the text messages being received by the CADAC hotline are a big boon to the Dagupan police which is now implementing barangay drug clearing operations.
Bonuan Binloc, where most of the arrested suspects and seized illegal drugs come from, is one of three barangays in Dagupan is under drug watch by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. The others are Barangays Bonuan Gueset and Pantal.
