THE Balungao District Jail (BDJ) is the Best District Jail in the country!

This was announced during the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s (BJMP) 23rd anniversary celebration held in Tejeros Hall, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City last week.

J/Chief Inspector Roque Constantino Sison III, jail warden, said the award presented by the BJMP National Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence cited the consistent and exemplary transformation of the jail facility through the support of the local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations, service-providers and capable private individuals.

BJMP Regional Office 1 Regional Director J/Senior Supt. Nida Gacutan-Ramos was also cited as Best Regional Office 2014.

Since Sison assumed as District Jail Warden on Jan. 01, 2012, he has earned the support of different LGU officials, service-providers, and capable private individuals for the improvements of the jail facility and implementation of its Inmates Welfare and Development Programs.

Sison acknowledged the support for physical improvements of Balungao Mayor Philipp Peralta, Rosales Mayor Susan Pagador Casareno, Pangasinan Sixth District Board Member Alfie Bince and Pangasinan 6th district Representative Marilyn Primicias-Agabas.

BDJ also conducts daily religious activities with different interfaith service-providers.

The Central Luzon State University trained the inmates in the production of mushroom spawn and propagation which is generating income for the inmates.  The inmates’ wood works earned export potential as well.

Brigada-Eskwela, tree-planting and cleaning the community were among the BDJs projects in the community. The Commission on Elections also gave Sison and his personnel recognition for their support for the Automated Voting System aside from having the most number of off-site voters for the whole region.

The Dagupan City Jail (DCJ) was adjudged the Best City Jail for three consecutive years under Sison’s stewardship and cited as the Best City Jail Warden of the year during his stint as warden of San Carlos City Jail and in Laoag City Jail. (Tita Roces)
