VACC bewails deteriorating peace and order here
THE Volunteer against Crime and Corruption (VACC) bewailed the recent crime incidents in the province citing Pangasinan’s peace and order situation as one of the worst.
The VACC members, led by Dante Jimenez, founding chairman and president of the VACC, were in Dagupan City a day after the shooting rampage by a policeman inside the Pangasinan National High School (PNHS) campus in Lingayen that resulted in the death of four teachers and wounding three others.
“VACC has databank and based on the stories we heard from your people, Pangasinan is becoming one of the worst provinces as far as liquidation squads are concern, a haven of assassins, illegal drug trade and other illegal activities”, said Dante Jimenez, founding chairman and president of VACC.
He cited the PNHS incident and the shooting of radio commentator Orly Navarro.
“We condemn these (unsolved) heinous crimes.. and challenge the province leadership especially that some of them were from the uniformed services”, said Jimenez.
Jimenez together with the other officials of VACC visited the scene of the crime and the wake of one of the victims in Lingayen before proceeding to a press conference.
He challenged the officials of Pangasinan especially those who are from the uniform service to reverse the “alarming trend” in the province.
“We condemn these unsolved heinous crimes along with the various illegal activities in the province such as assassinations and illegal drug trade”, said Jimenez as he pointed that seemingly the province has become, “haven of assassins, liquidation squads and illegal drugs”, said Jimenez.
He said VACC will support the victims and their families crimes in the province by providing a venue for impartial proceedings, witness protection program for witnesses and even provide lawyers or legal assistance to those in need of one.
Furthermore, Jimenez admitted to be in favor of the imposition of death penalty to heinous crimes.
The PUNCH learned that the VACC group was in Dagupan last Tuesday as guests of the Amb ALC Holdings and Management Co. but purposely only to denounce the shooting of radio commentator Navarro in a press conference but they learned about the PNHS shooting rampage upon arrival in Dagupan.
