Two drowned during Typhoon Luis

LINGAYEN– Two persons died separately due to drowning at the height of typhoon “Luis” reportedly after being carried away by rushing floodwater.

According to the Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), it was not known where the two were originally situated before their bodies were found.

Edmundo Dimatulak, 40 years old, male, from San Rafael, Tarlac City, was reportedly pulled down by river’s strong current that overflowed while riding his motorcycle in Barangay Don Matias in Burgos town.

Meanwhile, police reports disclosed that a certain Rogelio Sayan, 74 years old, married, a farmer from Brgy. Alibeng, Sison was found lifeless on a dry patch of land in the middle of the river in Binalonan.

The bodies of the victims have since been claimed by their respective families.

As of Sept. 15, PDRRMC declared three cities and 23 municipalities as under water that affected 203 barangays with 16,237 families or 81,248 persons.

DAMAGES

PDRRMC estimated damages to agriculture at P1.5 million while estimated damages to infrastructure reached P72,450,000 that included five totally damaged houses, one each in Pasileng Sur, Binalonan; in Inoman, Pozorrubio; and in Inmanduyan, Laoac; and two houses were washed out by flash floods in Tiblong, San Fabian.

Rescue teams conducted a preemptive/ flood evacuation in Manaoag, San Fabian, Binalonan, and established 14 evacuation centers.

As of Sept. 15, 5 p.m., the water level at San Roque Dam was at 262.627 meters above sea level (masl), still way below its spilling level of 280.0 masl.

As of Sep. 15, all main roads going to and fro Pangasinan were already passable.
