September is “Pangasinan Tourism Month”

LINGAYEN—Beginning this year, the month of September will be observed as “Pangasinan Tourism Month.”

Thus was declared by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) in its Resolution no. 743-2014 authored by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. and approved last Monday (September 1).

As such, local government units and national agencies in the province are expected to organize to activities to help create awareness towards the social, cultural, political and economic values of tourism the whole month. The annual observance coincides with the observance of World Tourism Day every 27th day of September and the National Tourism Week every last week of the month of September every year.

According to provincial tourism officer, Malu Elduayan, while Pangasinan is the top tourist destination in Region 1, it is still not among the top 10 destinations that the Department of Tourism aggressively promotes. (Johanne R. Macob/PIA)
