DOT Region 1 Chief Hails Prov’l Govt Support to Tourism Industry

Lingayen- – -Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. said that Pangasinan tourism is anchored on two resources– natural and human.
The Governor issued his policy statement on tourism development at the opening of the 1st Pangasinan Tourism Summit and Skills Competition on September 25, at the Narcso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) gymnasium which is participated in by 22 schools in the province.

Dept. of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Martin S. Valera commended the provincial government for providing full support to various projects and program geared at strengthening the tourism industry.
The provincial government’s initiatives, he said, elevated Pangasinan as the region’s top tourism destination.
The governor challenged the youth to start inculcating in their consciousness the love for Pangasinan culture. The Pangasinan Hymn, according to him, is an instrument in which the youth must profess their love and patriotism to their home province.
Gov. Espino noted, however, that everything must start from the basics. “Ipakilala natin ang Pangasinan bilang malinis at maayos na probinsya,” (Let us introduce Pangasinan as a clean and orderly province) he added.
Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. said the first-ever tourism summit and skills competition signals the start of a lasting partnership between the provincial government and the academe that will help promote the best things about Pangasinan.
Meanwhile, Pangasinan Tourism Officer Ma. Luisa A. Elduayan said that under the Espino administration, an innovative approach was initiated to include the launching of Agew na Pangasinan, ASNA awards, Balitok a Tawir, Kurit Panlunggaring, Pangasinan Orthography, and I Love Pangasinan Movement./RRBRestoring the FMR Capitol Building. Duque, Pangasinan Historical and Cultural Commissioner Arabella Arcinue and Lingayen Mayor Josefina Castaneda lead the groundbreaking for the restoration of the Casa Real last September 26 in Lingayen. Constructed in 1840s, the Casa Real is the original Capitol Building where the Provincial Governor, then called as Alcalde Mayor, held office. /MVS
